Laws Nailed to the Cross
In this article I will show how the laws from Leviticus have been nailed to the cross, done away with, but the 10 commandments are still valid.
The Laws of God were written with God’s finger on stone. The laws of Moses were written in hand, by Moses. The Laws of God were placed inside the ark of the covenant and remain there to this day, the laws of Moses were placed outside the ark and were nailed to the cross, done away with.
Here Moses differentiates between the 2 types of laws/commandments.
Deuteronomy 4:11-14
“You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of the heavens: darkness, cloud and thick gloom. “Then the LORD spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but you saw no form—only a voice. “So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. “The LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might perform them in the land where you are going over to possess it.
Here again it is shown that there are 2 separate laws, the laws from God and the laws Moses commanded them:
2 Kings 21:8 And I will not make the feet of Israel wander anymore from the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.
Ephesians 2:15
by abolishing in His flesh the hostility, which is the Law composed of commandments expressed in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two one new person, in this way establishing peace;
Next we see that the laws of God, the 10 commandments, first said by God then written with his own finger, were placed INSIDE the ark of the covenant. Then the laws of Moses are place OUTSIDE the ark.
Deuteronomy 10:2
Then I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you smashed to pieces, and you shall put them in the ark.
Deuteronomy 31:24-26
It came about, when Moses finished writing the words of this law in a book until they were complete, that Moses commanded the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, “Take this book of the law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may remain there as a witness against you.
The laws Moses wrote were against us, as written “that it may remain there as a witness against you”, and the laws of God, the 10 commandments were for us.
Colossians 2:13-14
When you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our trespasses, And putting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, he even took it out of the way, and fastened it upon the cross.
This shows that the laws that were against us were nailed to the cross, and the laws that were against us were the ones written by Moses.
The 10 commandments were written for us and are still valid today.
Matthew 5:17
Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.
John 14:15
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments
Luke 16:17
But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.
Many people try saying the 10 commandments are no longer valid because we are under the “New Covenant”, I took this from Christianity.com because I like the way they word it:
The New Covenant is the promise that God makes with mankind that He will forgive sin and restore communion with those whose hearts believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant, and His death on the cross is the basis of the promise. He defeated death by His resurrection and restored life for those who believe in Him.
Luke 22:20
In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
Before Christ, we had to make live sacrifices, pray to priests and more to be saved, the “New Covenant” is that now we only need to ask for forgiveness through the sacrifice Christ made, for us.
