HELL IS NOT FOREVER
A LOVING GOD WOULD NOT DO THAT

From the word of God

Rather than me writing an article explaining my view, I will just use the word of God and make comments.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Notice how it says “shall not perish”. There are only 2 things that happen in the end, eternal life, or perish.

But aren’t we immortal?

Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
That kinda settles it,

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die

Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Notice, it doesn’t say “torment” the body and soul, it says “destroy”, which means to end.

1 Corinthians 15:50-56 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

There we see, we are perishable and mortal, and if we follow Christ, we will be made imperishable, immortal.

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death’ but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Death or eternal life. This isn’t talking about our physical life, it’s talking about our spiritual life. The alternative to Eternal life is death, not eternal life in hell.

But what about the Bible saying “eternal fire”? The book of Jude tells us what happens to the ungodly, here’s an excerpt:

Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

Are Sodom and Gomorrah still burning today? As you can see we are given an example of what the “eternal fire” does, the same as ALL fire, it burns things up, and once something is burned up, it is no more.

God’s word speaks of this as the “second death”.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years

Revelation 21:8 “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Revelation 20:14 Then death and Hades (hell) were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Revelation 2:11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.”

These also say the same:

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Why would Jesus say “they cannot die anymore” if we already all have eternal life? It’s clear, eternal life is a gift for those who follow Christ, not something we all have.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 8:51 “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.”

People die, so this can’t mean death of the body, it’s obviously death of the soul.

I read a Youtube comment that showed me something I never thought of, but really makes sense. In the beginning God made man from the dust of the earth, then breathed the breath of life in him. In death the reverse of that happens, man dies and his body returns to dust while the breath goes back to God.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

The spirit returns to God, not the soul goes to heaven. Not all will make it to heaven, in fact most will not make it, yet this says our spirit returns to God, so this shows, how can the soul of someone going to hell go to heaven? Our spirit returns to God until that day, when Jesus returns. There is more about this in the next section.

Churches started teaching the false doctrine of eternal hell to scare people into the church.

One last thing, if hell were forever, then all that go there would be getting the same punishment, but the Bible tells us
Matthew 16:27  For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS

The reason I’m writing this is because one of the biggest reasons people deny God is because of the false doctrine of a god that would punish people forever, unceasing, unrelenting burning. This is a false doctrine made up from a misinterpretation where the words “forever and ever” are used. The original Greek uses the words “Aionas Ton Aionon” which do not mean forever and ever.
